Five Day Weekend -

SWMBO is in Auckland for a couple of days, to I have taken a couple of days either side of the weekend off.
So far I have:
- Put in seals around the windows
- Vented the bathroom fan to outside
- Run a network cable
- Rebuilt the MediaPC
- Rebuilt the attic manhole (this is a biggy, really!)
- Pickled onions
- And more!
I’m feeling like I have had a relatively productive weekend so far. And if I knew where the camera was I would take some photos…

Just wanted to share…
I have just made a quicky website for Golden Ticket Brewing: http://www.goldenticketbrewing.co.nz/
And I’m drinking my MashUp clone… The clone that was brewed before everyone cloned it! (the picture isn’t very flattering…)

Where we are at -

We have bought a new house – move in day is 2nd December…
Bank is still faffing around with paperwork…
Property Managers are still faffing around with finding us new tenants…
We have, at least, gotten rid of a lot of junk we don’t need – Garage sales and giveaways have helped this a lot!
Brewing and trains are on hold (for obvious reasons – most of them are packed!) but my next trains project is going to be a modular one

Taking a leaf out of Owls books I figured I would do a brain-dump. I’ve quit facebook (still keep it there for the chat to friends though), and g+ is, tbh, quite bland.
At the moment we are going through the rigmarole of selling-as-much-as-we-can and trying to buy a house. Being faffed around by the bank and insurance companies has not made it easier at all…
I haven’t done much brewing lately for the same reason, trying to reduce the number of full bottles of beer I have to shift. I believe that I have enough to last me through the summer, and come autumn I will start on my winter beers.
Gardening should be happening in more force, but I really don’t want to plant a heap of stuff if we just have to up and leave it. Done that enough times now.
More later, maybe?

New Greenhouse -
January 19, 2011 by

I built my new greenhouse of of windows and plastic sheeting from Freecycle, and roof trusses I bought on TradeMe.
The walls were screwed into 2×4 on the corners, meaning the U shape held the whole thing up.
I have chosen not to attach it to the garage wall as this would mean we need approval from our property manager/landlord.
The roof trusses are screwed to beams across the top and nailed to support beams across the top. They have also been screwed down to the windowwalls…
There is a solar panel on the roof that currently powers a fan to keep air circulation going inside. I’m aiming to get a couple more to mount on the garage roof to charge a battery and power a hydroponic system…
So far the temp has been 25 outside, 40 inside (mid-morning, full sun) and 28 outside, 35 inside (mid afternoon, mostly in shade). A few leaks/etc to deal with and it will be warm and toasty… Also going to be getting a water tank to hook up to the garage spouting soon I hope.

With my Granddad visiting from the UK he brought with him all the parts I had ordered off ebay and shipped to him… including the peco platform sides/brick wall sheets/etc…!
So thusly I built a station platform and started to lay some track! The platform edges are mixed stone in some places and brick in others, to hopefully give the impression that it was partially rebuilt at one stage
